The general secretariat of the Islamic broadcasting and television Union honored the cadres working in its various institutions in Lebanon, and a number of media figures, during a ceremony held in the capital Beirut, and witnessed the participation of media figures and members of the General Assembly, as well as media officials who have kept up with the current crisis and wars in the region.
The initiative of the general secretariat of the Union came in the context of its appreciation for the efforts of the employees of its institutions, which oversees and provides services to the members of the Union, which contributed to enhancing the coverage of the extraordinary events of the last two years, starting from the Battle of "Al-Aqsa Flood", the battles of support, the first، and "Waed Sadek 1 & 2", and the solemn funeral ceremony of the former secretaries general of Hezbollah, the martyr Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and the martyr Sayyid Hashem Safieddine.
The ceremony was attended by all employees of the General Secretariat institutions, while its program included several paragraphs that dealt with the media work and sacrifices made by the General Secretariat, and in honor of its martyrs, who rose in the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, martyr Dr. Amin Fahs and martyr engineer Ali Abdullah.
Ibrahim Farhat, chairman of the Supreme Council of the federation and director of al-Manar TV, said in a speech during the honoring ceremony that "the media today is not just a job, but it is a message and a divine mandate and an integral part of the resistance," noting that "the current media battle is the most difficult and requires boldness, initiative and attack, not just defense.
Farhat praised the efforts exerted by the employees of the Federation during the battles of "Al-Aqsa flood" and"Uli Al-Bassa" for more than a year and a half under conditions of full media alert.
The former chairman of the Supreme Council and media assistant, Dr. Abdullah Kassir, also delivered a speech in which he stressed that :"this union was founded on piety to face huge media empires with modest potential but with high determination," noting that "the workers in this union have proven that they carry a media message as a divine duty.
During the recent Israeli aggression on Lebanon between August and September of last year, the headquarters of the general secretariat, which includes the institutions of the Union in the capital Beirut, suffered serious damage as a result of Israeli raids, while its cadres continued to perform their tasks despite the cessation of work in their official offices,"he said.
During the ceremony, the organizers reviewed a graphic video that dealt with part of the media coverage of the two battles of the Al-Aqsa flood in Gaza and the first AL-Basas witnessed in southern Lebanon, and the Israeli aggression on the capital Beirut.
For his part, the deputy secretary general of the Union, Sheikh Nasser Akhdar, described the meeting as a"warrior's break" after a long march of challenges starting from the "Al-Aqsa flood" until today.
Akhdar praised the sacrifices of the martyrs and Mujahideen, and especially mentioned the martyr commander in the media front, Haj Mohammed Afif, who was martyred during the Battle of "ULI Al-Bassa".
He also mourned a number of other martyrs, headed by martyr Ali Abdullah and martyr Dr. Amin Fahs, and in his speech, he presented their biographies crowned with offerings and sacrifices, in which they chose martyrdom as a path to their lives.
The meeting witnessed a special tribute to the families of the martyrs working in the Union institutions in Beirut, Ali Abdullah and Amin Fahs, in the presence of their parents.
The Under-Secretary-General stressed that the Union's media workers "fought for the word, image and Idea with all courage," noting that they "sacrificed their time and dear ones and did not insult or complain," considering them "real partners of the resisters in the field.
The under-secretary-general conveyed the greetings of the secretary-general of the Union Sheikh Ali Karimian, who charged him with the task of thanking and appreciating all the employees of the media institutions of the General Secretariat and the media institutions member of the Union, kissing the hands of the workers for their patience, courage, high professionalism and wonderful performance in crises.
