The Islamic broadcasting and television Union condemns in the strongest terms the American-Israeli aggression that targeted the institutions of the public authority for radio and television in the Islamic Republic, in a blatant attack that constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws and charters that ensure the protection of the media and its workers during conflicts, and expresses a systematic policy based on targeting the free speech and trying to silence every voice conveying the truth.
The targeting of media organizations is not a passing incident, but comes as part of a series of attacks aimed at blurring the facts and preventing the real picture from reaching world public opinion, in light of the continuing US-Israeli aggression against civilians, infrastructure and various aspects of life in Iran.
The Federation recalls that international humanitarian law and international charters, foremost of which are the Geneva Conventions, clearly stipulate the need to neutralize media professionals and media institutions and not to target them, as they are part of the civilian structure that must be protected, which makes this attack a described crime that requires accountability and accountability.
The union declares its full solidarity with the employees of the public authority for radio and television in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and with all media professionals who continue to perform their professional mission despite the risks, it calls on international organizations concerned with media freedom and human rights to shoulder their responsibilities and take a clear position condemning this crime and putting an end to the policy of targeting media institutions.
The Union stresses that aggression against the media will not succeed in obscuring the truth or silencing its voice, and that the free media message will remain present in revealing the facts and exposing violations to world public opinion, no matter how much pressure and attempts of intimidation.
