A Statement Issued by the Islamic Radio and Television Union about The “Israeli” Army Assassination of Journalists in Lebanon

The Islamic Radio and Television Union denounces the “Israeli” Army attacks against media staff and journalists while they were covering its aggression against Lebanon, and the direct and intended targeting of journalists, which left colleague Wissam Qassem, a photojournalist of Al-Manar TV, and colleagues of Al-Mayadeen TV, photojournalist Ghassan Najjar and Technician Mohammad Rida martyred, in addition to the injury of several other journalists from seven media outlets, in an attempt to conceal the crimes it is committing against the Lebanese people.

The IRTVU Secretary General and all of the Union member radios, TVs, and institutions, as well as the colleagues who work at the IRTVU’s General Secretariat and related centers and institutions, extend the deepest condolences to the administrations of Al-Manar and Al-Mayadeen TVs, and all their staff, on the martyrdom of the colleagues while they were performing their media duties to convey the image of righteousness and resistance.

The IRTVU holds the “Israeli” occupation authorities fully responsible for the war crimes it is committing, and the repeated attacks on the freedom of press and media in Lebanon, Gaza, and the occupied Palestinian lands, as well as the unending violations against journalists, the killing of journalists and press crews, and the targeting of the offices of media outlets.

The IRTVU calls on the international media outlets, rights and humanitarian groups, the international community, and all concerned parties in the world, to play their role and put the maximum pressure required to protect journalists and media outlets, to hold the “Israeli” occupation responsible for the war crimes it is committing against journalists, and its attempts to conceal its crimes against humanity, to guarantee that it won’t avoid punishment, and to dedicate all capabilities to keep the media voice confronting the “Israeli” aggressions high.

The IRTVU affirms that it fully supports journalists confronting the “Israeli” occupation forces’ crimes and violations, and the “Israeli” targeting of press people and journalists conveying those crimes. It also calls on all journalists and media outlets to highly pay attention to the cause of the martyrdom of Al-Manar and Al-Mayadeen TVs colleagues, and the unending targeting of journalists and press teams, and to prioritize and give sufficient attention to shed light on the continuous crimes of the “Israeli” occupation forces and their aggression against the Palestinian and the Lebanese peoples.

The IRTVU also calls on the member media outlets, and all honorable media outlets and journalists, media elites, influencers, and virtual media activists, to the widest campaign of solidarity with the journalists being attacked by “Israel,” and to exert all possible efforts and hard and non-stop work for media coverage in all possible means, visual, audio, written, electronic, and in virtual media and citizen journalism, to confront the blackout of committed crimes, and to benefit from every possible media outlet, to gain this important media battle against the unjust battle of the misleading media.

The IRTVU extends condolences to all colleagues and families of martyrs on this tragedy. It also prays that Allah the Almighty grants us patience, solace, and consistency, and lays His mercy upon the martyrs and lets them dwell in His widest heavens.
This is a greeting to all journalists in the field of jihad and resistance.

Blessed are the martyrs of resistance media who won martyrdom to pave the way for the liberation of Palestine and achieve victory for our Muslim ummah by God’s willing.

Kindly do accept the utmost respect and appreciation
IRTVU Secretary General
