The Union of Islamic radio and television condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli aggression that targeted the media institutions of the Lebanese media group, al-Manar TV and Al-Nour Radio, in a blatant attack that constitutes a serious violation of all international laws and charters that ensure the protection of the media and their workers during conflicts.
The targeting of media institutions can only be understood in the context of an attempt to silence the free media voice, prevent the transmission of the truth to world public opinion, and obscure the ongoing Israeli occupation attacks on people, stones and various aspects of life in Lebanon.
The Union recalls that international humanitarian law and international charters, foremost of which are the Geneva Conventions, emphasize the need to neutralize media professionals and media institutions and not target them, as they are part of the civilian structure that must be protected.
Expressing its full solidarity with colleagues working at Al-Manar TV, radio al-Nour and other Lebanese media institutions, the union calls on international organizations concerned with media freedom and human rights to shoulder their responsibilities, condemn this grave attack and work to put an end to the repeated Israeli violations.
The union also affirms that targeting the media will not succeed in obscuring the truth or silencing its voice, and that the free media message will remain present in the face of aggression and revealing its crimes to the world.the Union salutes the honorable media workers who are still working with determination and steadfastness to present a true story about the resistance and the steadfastness of people and their sacrifices to the encroachment of enemies.
