With the arrival of the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan each year, the Islamic nation and the free people of the world commemorate the occasion of International Quds Day. This day was launched by the late Imam Ruhollah Al-Musawi Al-Khomeini (may his soul be sanctified) in 1979 to be an international day for renewing the will of free peoples in confronting occupation and injustice, and to reaffirm that the cause of Jerusalem (Quds) and Palestine will remain the central cause of the nation.
Over the decades, International Quds Day has transformed into an inclusive annual milestone through which peoples express their solidarity with the Palestinian people, their rejection of all forms of occupation and aggression, and their commitment to defending the Islamic and Christian sanctities in Al-Quds Al-Sharif. Imam Khomeini intended for this day to be a cry of truth against global arrogance and a platform to renew the pledge to the Palestinian cause until the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their historical state from the river to the sea, as it is, without the loss of a single inch.
The commemoration of International Quds Day this year comes amid delicate circumstances in our region, as attacks and the siege continue against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem. This coincides with escalating threats and attacks targeting resistance forces in the region, particularly the current American-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Lebanon, and its valiant resistance, in an attempt to impose equations of hegemony and break the will of free peoples.
Third: The Union calls upon media institutions to highlight the symbolism of Jerusalem and its religious, historical, and humanitarian status.
Fourth: The Union urges international media organizations, various media outlets, and every free and honorable person to pay attention to the Palestinian cause and the grievances of the region's peoples. The Union also calls on media institutions, organizations, and government entities to dedicate specific resources to support Palestinian media institutions and journalists in performing their duties.
Fifth: The Union emphasizes the necessity of invoking the historical role of Imam Khomeini (QS) in launching this global initiative, aimed at enhancing the awareness of Arab, Islamic, and international public opinion regarding the justice of the Palestinian cause and the importance of confronting American wars and projects of hegemony, violation, and expansion.
Sixth: The Union urges all media outlets—especially those claiming neutrality and professionalism in their coverage of events in Palestine—to counter misleading narratives with the undeniable facts witnessed by the world daily.
Seventh: The Union calls on human rights institutions and media organizations to highlight the suffering, heroism, patience, and resistance of the Palestinian people, while shedding light on the crimes committed against them—including occupation, aggression, siege, and displacement—and demanding their fundamental rights and freedom, and the removal of injustice and oppression.
Eighth: The Union affirms the right of the Palestinian people to resist the Israeli occupation by all available and necessary means. It condemns the campaigns of destruction and displacement carried out by the occupation forces and their supporters against the Palestinian people and the peoples and countries of the region, strongly denouncing these criminal acts and calling for the perpetrators to be held accountable.
Ninth: The Union emphasizes that the explicit aggression currently facing the Islamic Republic—targeting its great people, its victorious forces, and its natural rights—is due to its policies supporting Arab and Islamic causes, especially the cause of Jerusalem and Palestine. This profound loyalty and continuous defense of the central cause require all the oppressed and free people of the world to stand in support of the "Supporter of Palestine" and prevent the Zionist-American project from undermining its will and determination.
Tenth: The Union stresses the need to strengthen a media discourse that consolidates the unity of the nation around the cause of Jerusalem and Palestine, ensuring that Jerusalem remains the compass for the free people of the world, and that free media remains a platform for defending the oppressed and exposing the reality of the occupation until its end.
Please accept our highest expressions of respect and appreciation.
