As part of its administrative and institutional procedures, the Founding Committee of the Iraqi Radio and Television Union elected Mr. Mudhar Adnan Al-Bakkaa as president of the Union for its new term during its regular meeting held in Baghdad. He succeeds Mr. Hamid Mahmoud Al-Husseini.
The new president was elected in accordance with the Union’s approved regulations, laws, and institutional procedures. The election aligns with its organizational and administrative framework and supports the continuity of the institution, the development of its performance, and its role in serving Iraq’s media sector.
The Founding Committee affirmed that the next phase will focus on strengthening the Union’s professional presence, enhancing its performance and relations, and expanding cooperation and coordination among its member media institutions and outlets. It will also seek to reinforce engagement with media organizations in Iraq, the region, and around the world, while creating broader opportunities for exchanging expertise and experience in support of the development of Iraq’s media landscape.
In this context, the Founding Committee commended the role played by Mr. Hamid Mahmoud Al-Husseini during his tenure as president of the Union. It praised his efforts to build and develop the Union’s institutional work, manage its affairs, and strengthen its presence and role in supporting Iraqi media institutions and outlets. The Committee also acknowledged his commitment to Iraqi media professionals and influencers, as well as his contributions to serving the media community and enhancing the Union’s standing.
The Founding Committee also congratulated Mr. Mudhar Adnan Al-Bakkaa on his election as president, expressing confidence in his ability to continue advancing the Union’s institutional mission, improve its performance, strengthen its role in representing and supporting member media institutions, and consolidate its presence within Iraq’s media landscape.
The Committee wished the new president success in carrying out his duties, emphasizing that the coming phase requires continued cooperation within a shared institutional framework and stronger collaboration among all members of the media community, in line with the Union’s objectives and the aspirations of Iraqi media institutions.
