The solidarity meeting with the Iranian media, entitled "Israel is killing media workers," was launched in the Lebanese capital Beirut today, Friday, June 20, 2025, with the participation of a number of Lebanese media, political and trade union figures, as well as representatives of media institutions and trade unions concerned with defending journalists.
The meeting, which was held in an atmosphere of solidarity with the targeted media on the ground, aims to shed light on the crimes committed against journalists, especially in the Occupied Palestinian territories, where a number of them died as a result of Israeli occupation attacks.
The meeting program included speeches by a number of representatives of Lebanese media and official bodies, including the representative of the minister of information, the chairman of the Parliamentary Information and Communications Committee, the National Media Council, as well as representatives of the Union of Islamic radio and television, Lebanese channels and newspapers, in addition to prominent trade unionists and media professionals.
The meeting began with the Lebanese national anthem, and the meeting was interspersed with a speech by the deputy secretary general of the Islamic broadcasting and television Union, Nasser Akhdar, where he stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is waging a comprehensive battle against the system of injustice and aggression, not only in defense of itself, but on behalf of all the free people in this world.
Akhdar saluted the Iranian media workers, whom he described as" ambassadors of truth and soldiers of the Battle of tabiyin", stressing that the targeting, killing, prevention and confiscation they are subjected to" confirms that they are standing in the position of truth, in the face of the most powerful falsification and disinformation systems".
He said: "We have to support Iran in the media and in practice, because it is fighting a war against America and Israel on behalf of all the free people of the world . And because it was never a state of sedition or greed, but a state of knowledge, morality and support for the vulnerable, "he said.
"Iran is fighting for human dignity, and it is winning for the torturers on the ground . So defending it becomes a moral and informational duty, both his position, in word, attitude and deed".
He stopped at the phenomenon of targeting the Resistance media, saying: "This is not the first time that Israel has killed media workers, it has killed Palestinian, Iraqi, Lebanese, Yemeni and Syrian journalists . Today, it continues its crime against the Iranian media, which has always been the affectionate father and supporter of our Just Causes,"
Nasser Akhdar considered that the Resistance media, despite all the challenges, "still pulsates with creativity, intelligence and humanity, and stands tall in the face of distortion, full of love and magnanimity, not hatred".
He stressed that the union "strongly condemns the systematic attacks on the Iranian media, and puts all its capabilities at the service of this noble message, because those who are targeted today are the soldiers of the word, who play the role of Zainab (peace be upon her) in a new Tabyan epic".
He also called for confronting the jamming of resistant content, warning of the policy of closure, blocking and deletion on global digital platforms, and a frank question: "is it targeting our media because it is a failure?" No and a thousand no, but because it reveals the facts that expose the occupation and mobilize people to resistance,"he said.
At the end of his speech, the Under-Secretary-General of the Islamic broadcasting and television Union paid tribute to Imam Ali Khamenei, calling him"the leader of the jihad of the tabiyyin, and the first inspirer of the free media," and addressed the Iranian media by saying: "you are not alone. We are on your side fighting with all available means. This is a final battle between right and wrong, so be free... No rogue agents".
